Sometimes it really blows my mind how Bryke appear to be historically aware in little clever ways, and then totally misunderstand the big important points. I mean wow, there is some obvious influence from Maoist propaganda on some of the Equalists propaganda! So I’m guessing you guys had heard of Mao, maybe? Communism revolutions, you know about those things? Since the Equalists use some similar rhetoric? Yeah?
THEN WHY THE FUCK DO THEY FAIL TO UNDERSTAND HOW REVOLUTIONS WORK? A big body of angry, oppressed people is not just going to magically stop being angry because a figurehead went down. They might lose momentum, but they aren’t going to just give up. And why does Amon being a bender have to totally invalidate everything else? I mean yeah, the dude obviously wasn’t really invested in their cause and just played along for who the fuck knows why, more bad writing, etc, but if he had been serious? It could have worked? Could have been problematic and shitty, but it’s not like Lenin or Stalin had beans in common with the people they claimed to represent. Somehow they still pulled shit off.
So I guess Bryke only understand history in shallow little details that are fun to pick out but fail utterly in understanding the real substance. Why would you put in so many references to a communist revolution if you were just going to totally invalidate the oppressed masses who are always the most sympathetic in these situations?
