zuky:
This is Vancouver’s newest urban farm, consisting of 3,000 planting boxes in an unused parking lot in the heart of downtown, next to False Creek, across the street from the city’s sports stadium BC Place. It’s run by SOLEfood, a local social enterprise focused on training and feeding inner city residents and developing a sustainable model for urban food production. SOLEfood has been operating a smaller urban farm for the past 2 years on East Hastings, in the city’s epicenter of homelessness. The new site is the most ambitious of its kind to date, and although the project has its detractors, you have to admire its scale and audacity.
Whoa, that is an EPIC urban farm.
