So in Liberia, Black Americans who successfully escaped slavery created a one-party state in Liberia via settler colonialism, forming the TWP.
They excluded Native Liberians from participating in politics, in gaining employment, and from participating in the society that Black Americans had set up there.
Now.
I dare anyone to tell me
That we don’t learn how to oppress others
As a product of being oppressed
I double-dare anyone to tell me
That we, Black Americans
Have NEVER done damage to others
Using the tools of white supremacy.
But if you do?
Cite your motherfucking sources.
Ooop.
totally true.for basically the last 50 years of us slavery, black americans built plantation style houses on the coast of liberia, while indigenous africans were pushed into the forests. and what instigated the liberian civil war was the revolt against the hegemony of americo-liberians. so yeah. of course black americans have done damage to each other, and to ourselves. and we have used structural violence at times to do so.
black am’s allowed and advocated for themselves to be used in a colonizing project by the us. in the same way that blacks have always fought in the us military overseas and have always been a part of creating the empire. yes.
and if you want to talk about an interesting contemporary example, we can talk about the black hebrews being given land by the israeli government, that land btw happens to be dimona, where israel keeps its unacknowledged nuclear weapons. and of course is on palestinian/bedouin land.
