Le questions for you all about long hair?

pluckypalaeontologist:

floodxland:

Why do people tell people with very long hair to get it cut? Like also with this mean, agressive vibe about it as if to say - how greedy you are for having such long hair. Why don’t you cut it off and donate it to someone who needs it?

When did these people die and become lords of other people’s hair length? For one a lot of the hair people “donate” does not get made into anything, sometimes because it’s too damaged or coarse or it’s just not long enough to be usable. There’s doing it as a symbolic act to show solidarity to those dealing with baldness caused by cancer medication - that I get.

So why the agrro?

i assume it’s a jealousy thing because that’s the only thing that even KIND OF makes sense

though i find the “someone who needs it” part kind of weirdly hilarious

especially since people aren’t nearly as aggressive or douchey about like

blood donation

which legitimately saves lives and usually has a very low personal cost

I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED TO KNOW THIS

My mom said something like “it’s going to become unmanageable” (which it never did) and one of my friends said “IT’S TOO LONG” (but never specified how something could be too long) and apparently there’s this idea that it looks terrible at a certain length? I DON’T KNOW.
