I think you mean it’s still this in America.  It never “left”.  Meanwhile, I did snicker. He could barely contain himself, stumbled over his words trying to clean that up, but there’s no cleaning up that he’s a racist with little desire to change.

you can tell he just psyched himself out, being like “don’t say it, don’t say it, don’t say it” and his brain was like “don’t say what?” and then all of the sudden he’s tripping over a mouthful of slur.
