blocky-sheep reblogged your post: 5 Essential Superhero Redesigns!

Superman: Changing the origin story and the costume does not change the fact that he’s basically a shiny happy face on white supremacy. If he were really from a morally advanced civilization, he’d be a villain in our society. There’s no way a morally advanced being looks at the prison industrial complex and doesn’t tear it down. That’s not what Superman does because Superman now exists to give white 18-35 year old males a warm fuzzy feeling about wielding the enormous social power that they do, so that they can see themselves as super men, infallible in their morality. “The American Way” is white supremacy and imperialism.

Oh god. You need to see the commentary on this one, people.

Blocky-sheep has said pretty much that they doesn’t really want to be followed or reblogged, but I can’t for the life of me just let this commentary go unnoticed. Because it is trenchant, and something that comics fans need to think about.

Also, their suggestion of a truly morally superior Superman as a “supervillain” would beat the pants every other supervillain in existence.
